Activities Planned for UW-Green Bay 50th Anniversary

Planning for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s 50th Anniversary (September 2, 2015) is well underway. As details are finalized for the many exciting activities and events, information will be added to the Events section of the 50th Anniversary webpage.

The following list highlights several key events and activities still in the planning phase. It is important to note that these activities are fluid, and changes will likely occur to the list before the 50th agenda is finalized. Major Event Kickoff- September 2, 2015 (day-long events)

  • Student Spirit Day planned by Student Government Association
  • 7 -9:30  a.m. Leaders to Leaders Breakfast
  • 12:30 p.m. class of 1970 Luncheon
  • 3 – 8 p.m. “Turn the Market Green” at the Farmers Market On Broadway with a UWGB themed day
  • 4 – 8 p.m. Campus Kickoff and Cookout at the Mauthe Center
  • 7 p.m. Student Comedy Show and ShopKo Night
  • 8 p.m. Battle of the Bands on Broadway, featuring UWGB alums


  • “Last Lecture” series featuring UWGB professors, 6 total through year
  • Themed events throughout the year in all academic units
  • Music/concert themes relate to 50th (Music Department)
  • Board of Regents meeting on Campus, April 2016


  • ‘50 stories’ about transformational alumni
  • Business receptions w/ 50th theme

  • Themed displays around community celebrating history and timeline
  • Re-enactment of 1970s campus plan “There’s a New World Coming” (April/Earth Day 2016)
  • Oral History Course taught by Dr. Meacham and Dr. Trimberger
  • Reveal of UWGB Cornerstone Time capsule (50 years old) on 50th day of class
