UW-Green Bay is celebrating five decades of history beginning with a Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 kickoff celebration. It marks the golden anniversary of the occasion in 1965 when Gov. Warren Knowles signed legislation creating a new four-year university for Northeastern Wisconsin.
The second major event planned on campus is Alumni Reunion Days, Oct. 17-18. Throughout the course of the year, campus and community will celebrate with a lecture series, open classroom opportunities, off-campus events, extensive photo galleries, oral histories and more. UW-Green Bay is also planning to partner with other local institutions celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2015. The Neville Public Museum of Brown County will mark 100 years, while the Green Bay Press-Gazette celebrates 150 years.
The anniversary also allows UW-Green Bay to springboard into a new vision of innovation, transformation and service to the region in the years ahead.
